On Saturday, November 28, 2015, we celebrated the 40th Anniversary of Whitehills Childcare through our participation in the Hyde Park Santa Claus Parade.
Whitehills Childcare Association began in 1973 when a group of parents established a small pre-school in the Whitehills community. Whitehills Childcare was incorporated in 1975 and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our 40th anniversary than in the community where we began. Although we serve many more communities now, we still bear the Whitehills name that we are so proud of.
Nineteen parents, 26 children and 14 staff came out to join us on the parade route and the enthusiasm and passion for this organization was evident. We really did ROCK on Saturday morning as we proceeded down Gainsborough. It was such an amazing sense of community and spirit and seeing all the smiling faces in our group and in the crowds of people warmed our hearts. We collected hats and mittens along the route and we handed out candy canes and t-shirts that displayed our “We Rock” message. The amazing live music on our float was performed by local song-writer, producer, performer and graduate of Whitehills Childcare, Niiko Soul and his team Aivi, George and Tia.
Our staff asked if we can make this an annual event and are already organizing next year’s parade.

This was the first parade that I have ever been in and I have to say that I had an absolute blast!! The energy from all the staff, parents and children was incredible. One of the first things I said to our manager and director was… Can we do this every year?????
It was a day that I will always remember, we rocked!
This was absolutely an amazing experience for the Whitehills Association. We came together as a child care family and celebrated our 40th Anniversary. Our float was filled with parents, students, graduates, staff, management which brought us closer and gave as all an opportunity to celebrate the season and our 40th anniversary with each other.
It was delightful fun filled day. We look forward to this event in the upcoming years.
I agree with you ladies!! This was one of the best events we have put on to date. The enthusiasm and whitehills spirit was there for all to see!! Child care family is what we are. This was a successful event because of all who participated. Staff, families and our gracious volunteers made this an event to remember! We will keep coming back each year to share our “We Rock” attitudes!!! Thanks All!!
