Northwest Schoolage Program

Northwest Schoolage Program will be located in the Northwest Public School, an elementary school of the Thames Valley District School Board. This is our newest location, and we will welcome children, families, and staff in September 2025.

Strong partnerships with the school and community will be developed at this location to ensure families receive coordinated and seamless services. The school and the child care and schoolage program work closely with other community partners to ensure this. Whitehills Childcare Association is also the lead at Family Centre Fox Hollow, located inside the Sir Arthur Currie Public School, a neighbouring school at 2435 Buroak Drive. Family Centre Fox Hollow supports children and families through EarlyON playgroups, youth programs, resources, and referrals.

Our indoor and outdoor environments invite school age children to safely learn through play and exploration, build on their strengths and develop and nurture friendships. Our educators provide a wealth of natural, real and play materials to engage the children’s creativity and support their interests. Opportunities are provided for healthy physical activity before and after a busy school day and healthy snacks are served.

Based on the families’ needs, we will provide full-day programs for school age children during the summer, Christmas Break (except for Christmas Eve), March Break, Easter Monday, and all PA days. Our full-day programs give the children opportunities to investigate their local and extended community, interact with visitors to the program as they share their skills and talents, and make meaningful contributions to the community.

We provide inclusive environments that welcome families and invite them to participate as they feel comfortable. Ongoing communication between educators and families supports the well-being of children and gives families a sense of belonging. Communication takes many forms to support families’ diverse needs. Storypark, a web-based interactive communication tool, gives educators and families the opportunity to share in the children’s learning and daily experiences. The Storypark app is used to provide timely information to families, such as inclement weather closures.
