Northwest Childcare Centre

Northwest Childcare Centre is a school-based site in the Northwest Public School, an elementary school of the Thames Valley District School Board. This is our newest location, and we will be welcoming children, families, and staff beginning in the summer of 2025!

Our child care provides programs for infants (0-18 months), toddlers (18 months- 2 ½ years), and preschoolers (2 ½ years- 5 years). This location will also offer a before and after school program for children 3.8- 12 years and full-day camps for school age children on PA Days and during the summer, March Break and other school holidays.

Strong partnerships with the school and community will be developed at this location to ensure families receive coordinated and seamless services. Whitehills Childcare Association is also the lead at Family Centre Fox Hollow, located inside the Sir Arthur Currie Public School, a neighbouring school at 2435 Buroak Drive. Family Centre Fox Hollow supports children and families through EarlyON playgroups, youth programs, resources, and referrals.

Our educators are committed to providing the best quality care and play-based learning opportunities. Our indoor and outdoor environments are rich with natural, real, and play materials that encourage curiosity, creativity, and exploration. Educators provide opportunities for healthy physical activity, long periods of uninterrupted play and exploration, healthy eating and rest, and quiet times as needed. Our menu includes fish, poultry, fruits, and vegetables; our meal times are relaxed and positive, and water and nutritious snacks will be available throughout the day.

We provide inclusive environments that welcome families and invite them to participate as they feel comfortable. Ongoing communication between educators and families supports the well-being of children and gives families a sense of belonging. Communication takes many forms to support families’ diverse needs. Storypark, a web-based interactive communication tool, allows educators and families to share in the children’s learning and daily experiences. The Storypark app provides timely information to families, such as inclement weather closures.
