Wilfrid Jury Childcare Centre

Wilfrid Jury Childcare Centre is a school-based site located in the Wilfrid Jury Public School, an elementary school of the Thames Valley District School Board. Our child care centre provides programs for children from 18 months – 5 years, full and part time and this location also provides a before and after school program for children 3.8 – 12 years and full day camps for school age children during the summer, March Break and other school holidays.

This location enjoys strong partnerships with the staff and administration of the school and we work together to support the families and children of our community. This school is a hub for the community and a wealth of programs are offered for children and families in the building. One of our supervisors is an active participant on the school’s Parent Council which brings another important connection between child care, school and community.

Our child care centre educators provide the best in quality care and play-based learning opportunities and our indoor and outdoor environments are rich with natural, real and play materials that encourage curiosity, creativity and exploration. Our children and families of Wilfrid Jury bring a wonderful diversity of culture to our classrooms. Educators provide opportunities for healthy physical activity, long periods of uninterrupted play and exploration as well as time for healthy eating and rest and quiet time as needed. Our menu includes lots of fresh fish, poultry, fruits and vegetables and our meal times are relaxed and positive. Our children enjoy active outdoor play in our beautiful natural play space and active indoor play in the school’s gym.

We provide inclusive environments that welcome families and invite them to participate as they feel comfortable. Ongoing communication between educators and families supports the well-being of the children and gives families a sense of belonging. Communication takes many forms in order to support the diverse needs of families. Storypark, a web-based interactive communication tool, gives educators and families the opportunity to share in the children’s learning & daily experiences and the Storypark app is used to provide timely information to families such as inclement weather closures.
