Sir Arthur Currie Childcare

Sir Arthur Currie Childcare Centre is a school-based site, located in the Sir Arthur Currie Public School, an elementary school of the Thames Valley District School Board.

Our child care provides programs for children infant (0-18 months), toddler (18 months- 2 ½ years) and preschool (2 ½ years- 5 years), full and part-time. This location also offers a before and after school program for children 3.8- 12 years and full day camps for school age children on PA Days and during the summer, March Break and other school holidays. Whitehills Childcare Association is also the lead of a Family Centre at this location.

Strong partnerships with the school, community and residents will be developed at this location to ensure families receive coordinated and seamless services. The school, child care and Family Centre work closely together with all the other community partners to ensure this.

Our educators are committed to providing the best in quality care and play-based learning opportunities and our indoor and outdoor environments will be rich with natural, real and play materials that encourage curiosity, creativity and exploration. Educators will provide opportunities for healthy physical activity, long periods of uninterrupted play and exploration as well as times for healthy eating and rest and quiet times as needed. Our menu includes lots of fish, poultry, fruits and vegetables, our meal times are relaxed and positive and water and nutritious snacks will be available throughout the day.

We provide inclusive environments that welcome families and invite them to participate as they feel comfortable. Ongoing communication between educators and families supports the well-being of children and gives families a sense of belonging. Communication takes many forms in order to support the diverse needs of families. Storypark, a web-based interactive communication tool, gives educators and families the opportunity to share in the children’s learning & daily experiences and the Storypark app is used to provide timely information to families such as inclement weather closures.
